In recent news:

  • The Cleveland Avenue Bike Lanes were approved by the Saint Paul City Council and Ramsey County and will be striped this summer (2016)
  • Saturday, May 14, 9am-1pm, there will be a spring ride on the Margaret Street Bikeway sponsored by the STewards Of Margaret Park (STOMP). Meet at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 655 Forest Street, Saint Paul. It’s free but registration is required. Go here to register and for more info.
  • On Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 5:30pm, there will be a City Council Public hearing on proposed bike lanes on Edgerton and Upper Afton Road. Please come testify in support of these projects.
  • Friday, May 20, 2016 is “Bike to Work” day. From 7-9am, Saint Paul Smart Trips will host a Bike To Work Day commuter breakfast and meetup in Downtown Saint Paul at the Pioneer Endicott Building at 141 4th Street E, between Jackson and Robert Streets.
  • Thursday, May 26, 6-7:30pm, Saint Paul Public Works will be hosting an open house on proposed bicycle amenities on Hamline Avenue at Sejong Academy, corner of Blair and Hamline Avenues.

Cleveland Avenue Bike Lanes Open Letter

This summer, the city is proposing to stripe bike lanes on Cleveland Avenue between Highland Parkway and Summit Avenue as called for in the Saint Paul Bikeways Plan. It would be done as part of an upcoming street repaving project. There’s a description of the project and parking study on the city’s website at–

The SPBC and Women On Bikes recently wrote a letter to City Council Members, County Commissioners, and City/County Public Works Staff regarding these proposed bike lanes. It focuses on the Randolph and Cleveland intersection. You can read a PDF of the letter at–

May 15, Bike to Work Day Commuter Breakfast

From 6:30am until 9:30am, the SPBC will be hosting free coffee and snacks and (hopefully) tuneups for bike commuters in the main North Plaza of Union Depot in Saint Paul. It’s located on 4th Street, across from the LRT station, between Sibley and Wacouta Streets. If it’s raining, we’ll be inside in the main (Headhouse) lobby.
